La
Cueva de Nerja is one of the richest deposits of south peninsular
prehistoric art forms, because it has 589 pictorial motifs grouped into
321 groups and parietal prints cataloged into two major groups , the
Upper Paleolithic and Late Prehistory . The rock art of the cavity can not be visited by the public for conservation reasons .
The
distribution of this rich heritage pictorial extends from the inlet to
approximately half of the longitudinal development of cavernamiento ,
reaching 4823 meters . Prehistoric artists used more profusion of Tourism Department but there are relevant representations in the Upper Galleries.
The
Paleolithic Art can be grouped into two major groups assigned for
reasons of style and , in some cases, by absolute chronology , the
Solutrean and Magdalenian . The first would include a timeline between 20,000 and 16,000 years before present .
